Optimize the grinding process
During grinding, a lot of heat is generated from the grinding disc to the workpiece.
If we are grinding a hardened component, the generated heat will affect the workpiece, bothe thermally and mechanically. And if we don’t have control, we can have either a tempered grinding burn, or even a re-hardened grinding burn.
A tempered grinding burn is a softer area with more tensile residual stresses in the surface.
A re-hardened grinding burn is extremely hard and has high compressive stresses. It is often embedded in a tempered, softer volume.
Barkhausen is an excellent tool to optimize the grinding process and ensure high quality, without loosing productivity.
There are a large number of parameters controlling the grinding process. Dressing of the grinding disc, feed rate, wheel speed, contact pressure, and of course all the cooling parameters. Coolant flow, speed, and quality.
We can recommend coolant nozzles from INNOZL (TM). Designed to give the right flow, at the right speed, at the right spot. No more; “spray and pray”. Patented in 3D-printed titanium material.
